Oh yeah, our favorite time of year is here. No, it’s not Thanksgiving or Christmas. It’s the Texas Renaissance Festival. If you are looking to de-stress before the holidays this is definitely your chance. It’s the most fun EVER. Located in Plantersville Texas, this place transforms you back to a time of castles filled with kings and queens, when men were barbarians and women were wenches. The Texas Ren Fest has been open since the 70’s and has grown in popularity every year. They have a huge following of loyal fans that challenge the employees on their Renaissance dress skills!
There are many layers to the festival. The shows are fabulous and each run several times a day. “Sound and Fury” and “The Sturdy Beggars” are a must see. Each weekend has a specific theme with the last weekend’s being be a Celtic Christmas. New Market Village sparkles with a variety of festive holiday lights & decorations as the Royal Family welcomes Father Christmas and his elves and ushers in Yuletide spirits to celebrate the holiday season! There are activities for the whole family, which includes The Royal Joust, petting zoo, elephant & camel rides, face painting, Royal Dance School and tons of activities for kids of all ages! Take part in daily competitions including Christmas Scavenger Hunts, Guess the Present Contests & Pumpkin Pie Eating Contests. Contests are open to kids and adults each day.
The entertainment is great, the food is yummy and plenty of our personal favorites……PEOPLE WATCHING! Bring your cameras because you won’t believe some of the things you will experience and see. We had the best time last year and brought along our two favorite guys, Dana and Ronny. Check out our video that we posted from last year. We are already making plans to go, so stay tuned for another. You know we are always about having fun and this year will be no exception!
