Sometimes we forget to see God in the little things and we find it easy to give luck or coincidence the credit. It was not coincidence, I know that! It was God showing me his greatness and reminding me that He is always by my side.
This week I had a class to teach at a Builder’s Model Home. These classes are a big deal to me and I like to be prepared and get to the place where I’m teaching on time. I had not bothered looking up the address. I thought I did not need to know until the day arrived. The only thing I knew is that the place was somewhere near Spring Tx.
Also this week, was a busy week. We had 4 houses to stage and I usually like to take one day at a time and not worry about things that are not happening that day.
On Monday, we went to stage a house and on my way there I saw a sign for one of the Builder’s locations. I thought, “Great! I can stop by and visit on my way back.” Then, I realized that it is the location where I’m supposed to teach on Wednesday. I said “Oh, good! Now I know where to come on Wednesday!”
In my sleep I had a nightmare. It was time for the class and I wasn’t prepared. I had forgotten my TV. There is no way I can do the class without the power point presentation. There are a lot of pictures in which I show the difference between a house that has been staged and a house that hasn’t. I had no TV and no way to teach the class! In my dream, Realtors and Sales Counselors were disappointed and I wanted to hide myself inside the shadows of shame.
Wednesday morning arrived and I’m getting ready to leave. I make sure I’ve got everything I need, specially the TV! I also know that I have plenty of time to get there and to get ready before Realtors start arriving. There is nothing worse than arriving late or being unprepared! I know where I’m going. I just drove there on Monday.
As I enter the address on my GPS –I wasn’t very familiar with the area on Monday, I see that the place where it is taking me is totally opposite to the place where I’m supposed to go. I’m confused now. I look up online and see that I was right. I’m going to the place that I drove by on Monday. I just have the wrong address.
As I am on my way to the class, I start thinking “Can you imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t staged the house on Monday that happens to be on the same road as the Partners In Building location where I’m supposed to go! I would have gone to another location in a different part of town and never gotten to the right place on time. It would have been a disaster!!” Then, I realize that there is no such thing as coincidence. It was God watching over me.
Truth is, He knows what tomorrow brings and there is not a day He has not seen. There is not a place where we go that He’s not already been.
And, to top that off, I received an email with this quote:
Coincidence is my feeble attempt to explain the majesty of God. -Ronald Earl Wilsher
Coincidence?… I don’t think so!!
