Every year we try to visit the Nutcracker Market. It sort of kicks off the Holiday season for us. This year was true to years past as being one of the best places you will find to people watch. On the trip down to Reliant Center, traffic was pretty heavy and we determined that every body on the road was heading there as well. We could see the women with their mistletoe headbands, red sweaters, reindeer hats……it’s all about what to wear. One thing that I still can’t understand is how the women wearing spike heels manage to get through the day. My feet are screaming by the end of it and I ALWAYS wear my most comfortable shoes. They deserve an award!
We did manage to see something this year that we had not seen in years past. It doesn’t quite live up to the grown man on the life size stuffed horse that we saw last year but it does make me want to try it next year. It was a group of ladies that were tailgating! Yep, tailgaters at the Nutcracker Market. Really, it’s a great idea. Get there early and don’t fight the traffic. They had it all; a decorated tent, some kind of breakfast casserole, fruit, banana nut bread and even mimosas. They had a close parking spot so they could get to the car with the loot they scoop up, have a little snack and a drink, then head back in for more. They really did it right! Of course I had to get a photo of this! These ladies were very sweet and posed for the pic and then even shared a mimosa with me. I love my job! I’ve just got to remember to plan this for next season.
