Cindy and I have traveled together many times over the years and have some crazy stories to tell from our people watching capers. We have learned that there is definitely an art to spying on people without getting into trouble. If you’re lucky it can start at the airport before you even board the plane!
One time we had the good fortune to encounter our first subject waiting to board a flight to Cozumel. We were seated right beside the check in at the gate where we could size everybody up as they entered the plane. It’s like sitting on the 50 yard line in the front row at a football game. The PERFECT spot to see ALL the action! At first the crowd seemed pretty disappointing when, lo and behold, like a beacon in the night, we looked up and spotted “Areola Kournikova” walking right past us. She was wearing a thin white t-shirt with NOTHING underneath. Let’s just say that the name Areola came to mind very quickly.
On a different trip, another girl came to our attention while sitting poolside. Early in the day she seemed a little edgy but otherwise normal. As the day grew however, so did her alcohol intake. She started getting louder and somewhat confrontational. She was heard in the ladies room talking to her self in the stall about how unfair life was. At this resort they had activities throughout the day to keep the guests entertained and when she joined in the fun the entertainment REALLY started. She jumped into the arm wrestling contest against a young, buff, teenage girl. After trying to cheat her way through it, she was sadly defeated. Not being one to take losing gracefully, she began calling said teenager names until Momma showed up! Let’s just say that’s when it got really good! “Alcohol Annie” wasn’t seen that evening at dinner.
Our next story is a little risqué so stop reading here if you blush easily. There was a couple on their honeymoon that we noticed while dining at the poolside café. They walked up from the pool and Cindy and I immediately noticed something about the gentleman. First let’s say that he was European and dressed as many Europeans do in a speedo……. a very small red one. Well there was something that stood out….. ummmmm well, we weren’t sure if he was walking around at full capacity (if you know what I mean) or if that was his relaxed state. But either way, you couldn’t help but notice that they were both smiling. Later we did get the question answered as to his condition …… because “Wraparound Willie” was in that state every time we saw him.
These are just some of our more memorable moments of people watching. You’ll have to buy us a glass of wine to hear more about our Caribbean Chronicles. So, as we asked in our recent video, please send us your people watching escapades. Nothing is off limits! We just hope that we aren’t vacationing at the same spot as you are. We wouldn’t want to see a story where WE are the subject matter! Happy Travels!
